UNITY 18: “WE ARE PHOENIX”
SUNDAY, JANUARY 26, 2025. Experience the powerfully uplifting world premiere of “We Are Phoenix” by Timothy Takach. This extraordinary new choral-orchestral work, commissioned by a consortium including The Tallahassee Community Chorus, sets texts from diverse voices to explore the cyclical nature of loss and regeneration, destruction and rebirth, that connects all people and our environment. We will be joined by the Lincoln High School Choir, and FSU Levana, who will also perform selections of their own, showcasing the resilient spirit of future generations.
SPRING: PSALMS FOR THE SOUL
SUNDAY, APRIL 27, 2025, 4:00 PM. We close our season with a choral exploration of the Psalms. Experience the timeless beauty of Sir John Rutter’s iconic “The Lord is My Shepherd,” evoking solace and reassurance. Marvel at Mendelssohn’s dramatic setting of Psalm 42, capturing the longing for spiritual fulfillment. And be swept away by the rhythmic vitality and soaring lyricism of Bernstein’s masterpiece Chichester Psalms, a radiant testament to the enduring relevance of these ancient verses. This program promises to elevate your soul through the majesty of choral artistry.
